Dory and the “Finding Nemo” gang will be swimming their way back to the box office.
Disney and Pixar animation announced Tuesday that the 2003 hit “Finding Nemo” will be getting a sequel with the approacing “Finding Dory.”
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who voices Dory, was quoted by Fox News in saying “I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”
“Finding Dory” is reportedly set to take place on the coast of California about a year after the action of “Finding Nemo” and will include many of the original characters as well as many new ones. Andrew Stanton, who directed the original, is set to film the sequel. The studio did not release if Albert Brooks, who voiced Nemo’s father, will reprise his role.
“Finding Nemo” was released in 2003 and took in $921 million worldwide and was the first Pixar production to take home the Academy Award for best animated feature.
“Finding Dory” is set to splash into theaters Nov. 25, 2015.
