Review: “Lift” doesn’t live up to expectations

4 Louie’s out of 10

I was excited to watch Lift because I thought It would genuinely crack me up. I saw that it starred one of the funniest actors,  Kevin Hart, among a few others.

However, I found myself waiting to have a good laugh. Turns out, the movie ended up being quite boring and confusing. It was one of of those movies that had too many subplots to the point where it was becoming hard to keep track and understand what was even going on.

The movie started off with a boat chase through the canals of Venice. The biggest scene of the film takes place on a plane when a team of hackers is challenged to steal 300 million dollars worth of gold off of the plane. The hackers had a task to steal the gold, but the process of doing so was the confusing part. I felt as if the characters didn’t play their part right, as the acting wasn’t too good.

Overall, Lift was definitely not a movie for me. Although I am glad I gave it a shot and watched it, I would recommend the movie to a younger audience due to the jokes. I feel as if a younger crowd would be more interested as well as finding more humor in it. If you like action movies and are under the age of 13, Lift might just be for you.

From the start, I knew I was’n going to enjoy the movie. I believe the directors could have done a better job with adding more  well-known actors, better plot, and a slight change in the humor.
