Halloween is quickly approaching, which means it is the best time for horror movies and dark-themed movies in general.
Check out some of these new horror and Halloween-themed movies:
Sinister: Opening on Oct 12 and already opened in Europe during March is a horror movie which revolves around a Super 8 film reel. The protagonist, Ellison Osbourne, is a true-crime novelist who moves into a house where the supposed murderer of a family of five occurred. Ellison decides to use that story for his upcoming novel, however it isn’t until he finds reels of Super 6 film in the attic, strange things occur around the house and horrific revelations are brought into the light. Already a hit in Europe, “Sinister” opens with huge expectations.
Smiley: “Smiley” will open on Oct 11.The story revolves around the protagonist Ashley who summons Smiley through the internet after learning about him through a local urban legend. As the number of victims increases, Ashley must determine whether she is going crazy or is Smiley’s next victim.
Frankenweenie: Although not a horror movie, “Frankenweenie” is a remake of the original ‘80s short of the same name. Director Tim Burton brings the classic back to life with 3D stop motion animation. It’s a great Halloween movie for the whole family.
Paranormal Activity 4: The fourth movie to the popular Paranormal Activity series premiers on Oct 19. The story takes place five years after “Paranormal Activity 2”. This time it takes place in the suburbs of Las Vegas. A special 21st century twist includes haunting through a Xbox Kinect.
Silent Hill: Revelations 3D: “Silent Hill: Revelations 3D” will open in digital 3D on October 26. The main character Heather Mason, on her 18th birthday, finds out her identity is false. While searching for her origins and with the disappearance of her “father,” Heather discovers another dimension called Silent Hill. With recurring characters, “Silent Hill: Revelations” has been much awaited by fans.
The Bay: “The Bay” will open right after Halloween on Nov 2. The story begins with two French researchers who finds an abnormality within the water of a Chesapeake Bay community. Although they alert the mayor, he does not take any precaution. Soon the whole town is infected with a parasite which first takes over the hosts’ mind and slowly creeps to their bodies.
