Veggies steam up Village

In the late 80s, Elk Grove had a very popular hometown punk band named The Steaming Veggies. They were organized in 1986 as more or less a joke. Originally, the group consisted of seven members, but only three went on to take it more seriously. The Veggies played a mix of covers as well as originals with titles as extraordinary as “Slap That Yak” and “Veggie Heartache.” The band got their big break in September 1987 when they got a gig at McGregors, a popular dance club.
