Although college is preparation for a career, some students choose not to go to college.

Some students want to pursue a career that does not require college. Anthony Miocic, the college counselor said “not going to college is acceptable as long as a student meets their career development goals.”

The decision to go to college is based on of different things for each student.

Usually students who are uncertain about going to college end up not going at all. Some students choose not to go to college just because they simply don’t like school. For some people, college isn’t necessary because they choose to pursue a career that does not require college. For instance, if a student wants to become a plumber, they wouldn’t have to go to college and could still become successful.

There are also options aside from college. For example, if a student wants to go into a trade, they could go into an apprenticeship program instead of going to college. If someone wants to become part of the military, college is also not necessary.

Students don’t have to go to college to become successful. “As long as you work hard, you’ll do great. Work at being the best and choose the best career,” Miocic said.
