Youth rising in Girls Soccer

With a team of mostly sophomores and freshmen, the girls soccer team is following the strong play of the senior leadership from their four returning seniors, Alyson Czyzewski, Cassie Slattery, Bailey Murphy and Elizabeth McDaniel. Even though the team is compiled of mostly underclassmen, there is still a lot of “competition” from the younger girls, head coach Dan Klaus said. Competition is going to push all of the team for the better.

The girls soccer team is currently one and two with a very solid 2-0 win over Dundee Crown, but their two losses have come against two teams that have been known for being strong teams in the past and continue to be. The team needs to start being “more assertive with our attack,” Klaus said, and they also need to be “tougher” as a team. If they continue to work on that then Klaus is confident that they will turn the corner and make positive strides this year.

With upcoming home games tonight against Hoffman, the girls hope many students, staff and family will come and support them.
