Cubs V Sox

Sean Cherry and Brad Hubly, Staff Reporter

Sean: So with all this young talent, the Cubs have very high odds to win it all a lot. Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Schwarber, Addison Russell are just a few young offensive powerhouses on the team. We also picked up Jason Heyward, Ben Zobrist and John Lackey this offseason to help us win multiple championships.

Brad: So I remember sitting down on my couch with my dad and watching that last out of the 2005 World Series. I just remember him picking me up and screaming “We won the World Series!!!” Jermaine Dye, Scott Podsednik, A.J Pierzynski, Mark Buehrle and good old Paul Konerko were that team.

Sean: Also, there is so much history with the Cubs, dating back to when the MLB first started. Wrigley Field, “the friendly confines,” “the north side,” whatever you want to call it, it’s the second oldest park in MLB history. Ron Santo, Ryne Sandberg, Ernie Banks, Fergie Jenkins, Andre Dawson, Mark Prior, Kerry Wood are just some great players.

Brad: Also, we have been a threat in the AL for a long time, but we have been in a slump recently. But this year seems different because we made some pretty smart moves this offseason. Trading for center fielder Todd Frazier from the Cincinnati Reds and infielder Brett Lawrie will help.

Sean: Lastly, if you’re a Cubs fan you know that you will stick with your team through thick and thin (mostly thick in the past years). They have the most loyal fans in the world. For generations Cubs fans have gone through multiple heart breaks and let downs.

Brad: Lastly, south siders just do it better in every aspect. Warm summer nights, fireworks and the Hawk in the booth saying “You can put in on the board, yes!” And when their is a strikeout “He gone!” or when we have an amazing play in the field “Mercy!”
