Scholastic Bowl completes season of tight matches

Scholastic Bowl is a fun, fast-paced academic game that challenges students to answer questions about math, science, the arts, social studies and a random category that covers almost anything.

Senior leader Evan Hatfield had a very good season, earned a place on the all tournament team, as one of the top ten players at that tournament, in late February. He also received all star honors alongside other Senior Eddie Almaraz.

This year the team achieved a 12 and 20 record and hung around the .500 mark for most of the season, but the record does not do them justice.

“Quite a few of those matches where we were right there in it with our opponents but just fell a little short,” head coach Susan Montemayor said. Even though the record was not the best, people it still showed improvement over prior years.

The Scholastic Bowl team faced Lake Zurich in their regional match on Monday March 7, which they unfortunately lost. The team ended their season with a Teachers versus Students match on Thursday, March 10. This season was “a lot of fun, with a lot of competition and good laughs,” Montemayor said.
