Cruising to the auto show, preparing for Skills USA

Auto students are ramping up their production and technique as the Skills USA qualifying exam is coming soon. The qualifying exam is an aptitude test that is given this month that lets the best of the best compete at the state level.

In order to be involved in the exam, Auto Club teacher Zdenovec said, “You must be in a CTE class and or our Skills USA team.”

There are three different areas of concentration: Foods, Manufacturing and Automotive. Skills USA qualifying exam is very big to Elk Grove and District 214 because last year, D214 schools performed very well.

In addition, the students attended the Chicago Auto Show from February 12 to the 22 at the McCormick Place.

The Chicago Auto Show has run for 100 years. Zdenovec will be taking his automotive program down there on Wednesday, February 17.

Zdenovec said that his students look forward to, “All the technological advances from all the car makers.” He added that “It (the Chicago Auto Show) is a big deal.” Hundreds of thousands of people attend each year.
