There are less than two months of school left. For most of students, they can start breathing a sigh of relief as the school year winds down.
It seems like the seniors are the only ones split in two. Most of us want to leave, in fact, we feel a little trapped right now. On the other hand, we are also filled with this dread.
Many seniors have already decided where they will be next year, and it may be quite a ways from home. For them, it will be the first time they’re away from home and the first time they get to try their hand at being full adults. Yes, this means doing your own laundry and cooking your own food and all the other day to day tasks that our parents make look easy.
And that’s scary.
For those seniors that don’t know where they’re going yet–don’t worry, there’s still time to decide.
There’s so much stress in a student’s daily life, that, sometimes, they just want to be children again.
Which is not a bad thing.
Everyone has something that triggers nostalgia for days when they could just sit around and watch TV or read a book without looking for some deeper metaphorical meaning. And it’s important that we revisit that place every once in awhile.
It never hurts to dust off your Backstreet Boys CDs or watch classic movies. That said, it’s important to realize that, time, unfortunately, does move forward. Many students are afraid of growing up and being on their own, myself included, but we have to learn how to do it at some point.
There must be some perks about being an adult and not constantly having a selection of animated Disney films at your side.
