Cannon captivates enthusiasm of Elk Grove spectators

Unknown, Unknown

In the fall of 1967, Elk Grove High School’s Student Council made the executive decision to purchase a relatively inexpensive cannon in a morale-boosting move for its students and fans. At just $13.95, this investment did just that, as it was used during the kick-off ceremony at every home football game when the Grenadiers would charge onto the field ready to defeat their opponents. The fan section was fired up and, as a result, the team’s overall performance drastically improved, their successful seasons in the years after this ritual was implemented.
