Flash bolts his way onto screen
November 16, 1990
Twenty-four years before the hugely popular spectacle that is the CW’s “The Flash”, the first attempt to bring the scarlet speedster to life premiered. With John Wesley Shipp in the starring role (who, interestingly enough, plays the Flash’s dad on the current show), “The Flash” brought heavy (90s quality) CGI and action to television. Clearly inspired by Tim Burton’s “Batman”, the Central City of this show was dark and fairly gothic like Gotham City. Comic book fans rejoiced at seeing their hero come to life on screen.
