Students started to fear the thought of being drafted into the war. This was the first time a draft has even been necessary since the Vietnam War. The shocking part was many students were unaware of the conditions in the Middle East. One student said that she hadn’t even realized there was friction in the Middle East because she went on vacation that summer.
