Boys gymnastics has had high hopes for the season. Scores have been getting progressively higher as the season continues. Throughout the season, each level has practiced on six events: high bar, pommel horse, parallel bars, still rings, floor and vault.
“We’re hoping for a good finish and higher scores.” varsity coach Bill Watts said.
Of the four meets, the team found their highest scores in their meet at Rolling Meadows High School. The team took first place at the meet overall and saw some of the highest scores all season.
Senior Ivan Rodriguez, took first place and scored an 8.4 on floor exercise. On pommel horse, senior Jason Ramirez won first place with a score of 7.0 and Dan Medina took second place with a 6.6.
The other two meets did not see as much success, however.
The team took third at both the Buffalo Grove and Fremd meets. Buffalo Grove was the first meet of the season, and Fremd was the third meet of the season. Senior Night takes place on April 13, which will be the team’s only home meet.
The team, as a whole, has high hopes for the rest of the season looking forward.
