Title TBA-Beyonce
She who performed (lip synched) the national anthem at the Presidential Inauguration, performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, and has a baby with Jay-Z (who is on Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie”) named Blue Ivy. It’s going well for Beyoncé. This album will have a bunch of collaboration efforts (one of which is rumored to be Justin Timberlake — it always ends up back to him) and a Destiny’s Child reunion has been rumored. The album doesn’t have a release date yet, but her Super Bowl 47 show and HBO documentary should hold us over.
“Amok” -Atoms for Peace
This may sound like a bit of a wild card, but it shouldn’t be. They are a little-known supergroup lead by modern musical genius Thom Yorke, with help from Flea and Mauro Refresco from Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album comes out Feb. 26 and is some kind of experimental electronica genre because they have already done everything else. Not kidding.
“The 20/20 Experience”- Justin Timberlake
OK, that album title is ridiculous, but the first single “Suit & Tie” was the only thing in my ear for a solid week. He is still paired up with Timbaland despite nothing new since 2006. The album drops on Mar. 19 but he also performed at the “Super Saturday Night” party in New Orleans Feb. 2.
“The Next Day” – David Bowie
David Bowie is a different kind of awesome. He wrote the song Vanilla Ice sampled, once portrayed the guy who ordered the crucifixion of Jesus and has had his music covered by everyone from Nirvana to Duran Duran. He also has sold more than 130 million albums. Though he hasn’t released an album in a decade, his new single “Where Are We Now” is low key but ultimately an attention grabber. It comes out March 12.
