As thanksgiving comes closer, Student Council is planning their annual food drive.
Food will be collected from local Elk Grove and Des Plaines neighborhoods as well as their first period classes.
Competitive and generous classes can get involved. Students can bring in food to their classes from Oct. 30 through Nov. 16. The class that collects the most goods will win a free breakfast.
In addition to bringing in food to their classes, this year students and teachers who wish to participate can collect food from the community to add to their total amount of collected goods.
Groups who wish to take advantage of the community collection option should meet by the back doors of EGHS on Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. From there, students will be assigned a section of the community where they can distribute bags. They will be expected to pick up donations from this area on Nov. 4 at 9 a.m.
Recommended canned items include vegetables, fruit, baby food, and soup. Suggested dried foods are rice, beans, cereals, macaroni and cheese, and pudding. Recommended personal items are shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, deodorant, and diapers. Donations outside of this list are also highly appreciated.
Questions should be directed to Cindy D’Alessandro and senior Madeline Vanko.
