After the events of New York Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans) is trying and adjust to the modern world. But he soon discovers that there is something wrong with S.H.I.E.L.D, and that some agents are behind a conspiracy that will put the world at risk. As he discovers more and more about their plans he gets put in danger from other S.H.I.E.L.D agents and another mysterious assassin known as The Winter Soldier, making Captain America have to team up with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) to try and stop it before it’s too late.

Everyone in the cast did a really good job. Evans and Johansson were great; they had great chemistry in the movie and it’s hard to see other people in these roles at this point. Mackie did good job as well, though it’s hard to talk about Sebastian Stan because he didn’t get many lines in the movie.

The movie did have a fair share of action scenes, not a ton, but enough. This movie was more of a political thriller than it was an action movie, and that’s not a bad thing. It was actually interesting to hear about what was going on with the conspiracy. But that doesn’t mean that they weren’t good, there was one action scene that took place in an elevator that was really well choreographed.

The pacing of the movie was really good. Even with everything happening in the movie, from the whole story with The Winter Soldier, to the big conspiracy with S.H.I.E.L.D, the movie never started to feel tedious throughout.

Now, like all movies this movie has some problems, mostly minor ones but there still problems. First of all Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) is a really useless character that adds pretty much nothing to the movie. She just kind of shows up, does practically nothing, disappears for a while, then shows up really late in the movie (after I forgot she was even in it) equalling probably five minutes of screen time total. Also, Mara Hill (Cobie Smulders) doesn’t do a whole lot either. She gets much more screen time than VanCamp but still, she could have done more.

Another thing with the movie that isn’t so minor is that this movie is not newcomer friendly, if you haven’t seen Captain America: The First Avenger or at least The Avengers you’ll probably be a little confused because this movie goes way back into Captain America’s past. A fair amount revolve around events in the first movie, though I think you’ll be able to piece it together for the most part.

The movie had some really good acting in it, but it’s hard to give an example considering most of the more noteworthy acted scenes took place during spoiler heavy moments. As mentioned earlier, the movie had some great action scenes, and it had some plot twists I really didn’t see coming. The Falcon is a welcomed addition and I look forward to seeing him in more installments in the series.

To conclude, Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a great film. It had some really good acting and action, and the plot was very well written. Some characters felt a little unnecessary but not many. With all that said I feel that this movie is definitely worth a watch and it’s hard to think of a better way to kill time while you wait for The Avengers 2.
