Golf is a game of composition and mind set; golfers may shoot their best score one day and then come back the next day and shoot their worst.

Golfers have to be on their A-game at matches because it’s a do-or-die to help the team win.

“I go into practice with the same mind set as I do when I have a match” Senior Anthony Bianchini said when asked about his mind set when golfing.

Brian Bucciarelli main focus is on winning the conference championship. He emphasizes more on an individual who may be grouped with players who need work on their short game, iron game and or tee-box approach.

“It’s a time to improve your score and shoot a low score to help your team,” Bucciarelli said.

Also, the player who shoots the lowest score on the team gets to decide where they go for dinner, for instance Taco Bell or Burger King.

“Matches are more serious and time to do your best to help the team win,” senior Connor Laughlin said.

To golfers, they have that one specific course that they really enjoy to play at. Rathman’s favorite is Schaumburg Golf Course and Laughlin states Bowes Country club in Elgin is his favorite.

Bucciarelli believes his players should be multi-sport athletes and is big on school spirit. Junior Jordan Guerrero is a three-sport athlete who plays golf, basketball, and baseball.

“It’s fun because keeps me busy, and I enjoy the challenge to manage to succeed in school and sports,” Guerrero said.
