Girls water polo looks to improve on last year’s progress

The girls water polo season has started back up again. Head coach Jason Spujth said his goal this year is that he wants “to see our team continue to improve off of what they did last year. We made a lot of progress as a program last year so I expect us to win some more games against conference rivals and improve on our overall record.”

Spjuth got involved with water polo because “[He] played water polo throughout school.”

When Spujth “started at Elk Grove there was an opening and it only made sense for [him] to continue coaching.”

Sophomore Gillian Guerra said that “during [her] season, [she wants] to learn how to do a backhand shot.” Guerra really likes water polo because the best part is, as Spjuth would say, winning.
